- Art Background and Training I was born in Phoenix, AZ, in 1952. Even from a very young age, I knew was an artist. My aunt showed me briefly how to draw a face and I spent many hours sketching and painting. I took all the art classes I could in high school, college, private study, and workshops. I took art classes at Dixie College in St. George, Utah, Glendale, AZ, Community College, Scottsdale Community College and Mesa Community College. My art study also included five years of private study with portrait artist, William Muller-Lux. I received a Scholarship Award at the Scottsdale Artists' School and completed a workshop with Bettina Steinke there.
